Allocating Pupils to Classes

Within Giglets, teachers can easily allocate new or existing pupils to classes. The methods to acheive this are described below.

Allocating new pupils to classes

  1. Log in to Giglets using an admin account.
  2. Click the cog icon on the top right of the screen.
  3. A drop menu will appear, click <admin {your school name}>"  to open the administration welcome page.
  4. Within the admin welcome page, under the Pupils panel, click <add pupils>.
  5. The Add Pupils area will be open. Here you have the option to add individual pupils or bulk upload pupils using the spreadsheet template.

Adding individual pupils

  1. Within Add Pupils, under Add an individual pupil panel, complete the fields Name, Username and Password. Please note that all usernames must be unique within your school.
  2. Next select the class yoou wish to allocate the new pupil to.
  3. You can add other classes by clicking <Add another class> .
  4. Click <Add Pupil> button to save the new pupil.

To bulk upload new pupils using the spreadhseet

  1. Within Add Pupils, under Add multiple pupils click <Pupil-Spreadsheet-Template.xls> to download the pupil template.
  2. Add each pupil to the spreadsheet, a row per pupil. Each column is labeled. Please note that all usernames must be unique within your school.
  3. The class names are added to column "D". Multiple classes are added by using a comma as a divider ie 2B, 2E, 2C.
  4. Once the spreashseet is ready, save it for uploading.
  5.  Within Add Pupils, under Add an individual pupil panel, click <choose file> to browse and select the spreadsheet.
  6. Click <Submit> to uppload all pupils details.

Moving all pupils in a class

If pupils are moving together, for example when the school year changes.  Follow these steps.

  1. Log in to Giglets using an admin account.
  2. Click the cog icon on the top right of the screen.
  3. A drop menu will appear, click <admin {your school name}>"  to open the administration welcome page.
  4. Within the admin welcome page, under the View classes panel, click <view classes>.
  5. When View Classes opens, you can simply click <edit> to rename each class as required. You can also reallocate teachers if required at the same time.

Moving one or more pupils between classes

 You can move individual or groups of pupils between classes.

  1. Log in to Giglets using an admin account.
  2. Click the cog icon on the top right of the screen.
  3. A drop menu will appear, click <admin {your school name}>"  to open the administration welcome page.
  4. Within the admin welcome page, under the Allocate Pupils panel, click <Allocate Pupils>.
  5. Next select one or more pupil to move by clicking their checkbox on the left.
  6. When all pupils are selected, scroll to the bottom of the list and select
    (a) which class to remove them from
    (b) which class to move them too.
  7. Click <Apply> to complete the movement operation.
Note: You do not need to select from both lists to make a change. You can choose to just remove the selected pupils with allocating them to another class, or you can choose to allocate the selected pupils to another class without removing them from an existing class.

The list of pupils can also be filtered by classes using the drop down option at the top beside the list column names.
