Tell us about what you do at Giglets

Hello! I’m Graeme Nimmo and I'm the lead Artist at Giglets and am responsible for the digital illustrations and animations for the texts. I also manage a team of international freelancers to help with the load.

How did you find yourself working for an EdTech company?

I was headhunted by Jax our Editor as a freelancer over 10 years ago to illustrate and animate adapted classics to make them more engaging and enjoyable to read for young users. I then joined full time a few months in and have never looked back!

What are you most proud of since joining Giglets?

I’m always trying to improve my craft and learn new software to make bright, engaging illustrations and animations that support and enhance the texts, so the work I have done most recently is the work I’m most proud of. It’s extremely rewarding to hear positive feedback from pupils and teachers that are interacting with the texts and being inspired to create their own art and write their own stories. Hopefully influencing a new generation of creatives through reading, because the world needs more of them.

If you weren’t at Giglets, what would you be doing?

The same thing! I can't imagine not drawing so I would probably be a freelance children's book Illustrator. Although it's such a buzz working for a leading Edtech company such as Giglets that pushes innovation and thinks of new ways to make reading fun! I wish I had this when I was a kid, particularly as I'm dyslexic also.
