I have been an avid book lover from a very young age. Earlier in my career I taught phonics to children overseas and I began to understand that my own love for reading came from the influences that surrounded me. I went on to study English Literature at University and when I started teaching a few years later it was my favourite subject to teach. I was fortunate enough to teach through the medium of Gaelic, and found myself creating lots of resources for my class. As my digital skills improved, I realised how much I loved using technology to enhance my pupils learning. In my spare time I was also writing books for children. When the opportunity at Giglets came up, I knew it was the perfect fit and I am very grateful that I am in a job that encompasses all of the things I am passionate about.
I recently visited a school that won our World Book Day competition. It was really rewarding being able to go into a nurture classroom and support the students. Health and Wellbeing is something I have always been very committed to teaching, and it was great to see how the pupils were engaging with Giglets and using it as part of their wellbeing journey.
